Our Worship
We often think of worship in terms of “traditional”, “contemporary”, “emergent”, “blended” and so forth. At Grace, we think of worship in terms of the Gospel and the Glory of God. We exist to glorify God and to enjoy him forever. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ, who is the glory of God, coming in the flesh to save sinners. These sinners are then made into worshipers who live their lives for the glory of God in the power of the Holy Spirit.
This describes worship in the broad sense: living our entire lives unto the glory of God
as a response to God’s mercy (Romans 12:1ff). Worship in the narrow sense is acknowledging God’s worthiness, and honoring him for who he is through song and music as the family of God. Worship is also a response to God’s redemptive acts in Jesus Christ. It is not born out of fear or dread, but born out of gratitude and joy that the fear and dread we ought to have has been removed. We believe that true worship is governed and defined by the scriptures alone where God has revealed the proper way to offer him worship. The worship of the true God is the chief end of the Church’s mission to the world.
